Post-Christmas Christmas-post

Okay, my bad! So I haven't been keeping up like I said I would. I caught a cold about three days into winter break and it's been lingering around enough to keep me sniffling and shrouded in a vaguely ill-humored fog. It's so cold! Why's it so cold? (Response: "Shut up! You're in SoCal!)

Anyway, merry late Christmas! Honestly, though, I'm kind of glad it's over. The pretty lights and decorations and Christmas movie reruns on TV are all very well, but I stress out disproportionately about getting gifts and toeing the line between buying decent presents and not breaking bank. Not to mention I gift wrap like a 'tard. Oh well.

Also: I have a newfound respect for Hergé's Tintin . Someone watch with me when the movie comes out!

"When it rains and shines, it's just a state of mind..."

Things that the rain makes worse:

1. Pant cuffs
2. Bathrooms/places with tile floors
3. Tripping

Things that the rain makes better:

1. Dorm rooms/indoors
2. Reading books
3. Soup

Ah, the smell of new posts

Man, it feels like eons since I've touched this journal (yeah, I know it's only been, like, two years*). I hope it's aged well, like wine, or cheese...or people, occasionally.

Anyway, I've been having these desperate urges to reinvent myself somehow and clear my mind, or something. If I were in a book, this would be the chapter where I fall into a large body of water and nearly drown, then manage to pull myself out a changed and resplendent individual (a la Dantes). And it would be symbolism for something nice like baptism or rebirth.

I AM SUCH A DOOFUS. At any rate, I just need to start writing more again, no matter how stupid it is. Hopefully, once I get goin', things will pan out alright.

*actually, more like 1 year.
